PERSPECTIVES · A COLLECTION IN DEVELOPMENT

Student experiences.
In their own words.

School and funding decisions affect classes, work and bills. We’re planning a collection of first-hand accounts showing what those decisions mean in everyday life.

Students, educators, school owners and community groups would speak for themselves. Each person would approve their own account.

Story submissions are not open. For now, explore independent campaigns or use the student worksheet below to prepare a private draft.

Something useful to do today.

A CLEAR ACCOUNT STARTS HERE

What happened.
What changed.
What answer would help.

Describe the experience.

Say what happened, roughly when, and what explanation you received. Keep what you saw separate from what you think it means.

Explain the effect.

What changed about your studies, work or everyday decisions? You choose which details you are comfortable sharing.

Name the missing answer.

Ask a question someone can answer. A specific example can make a wider problem easier to understand.

THE STUDENT WORKSHEET

Prepare a draft.
Keep control of it.

Use this optional worksheet to organize an experience and download a private draft.

Your working draft stays in this tab’s memory until you reload or close it. Download a copy to keep it on your device.

Leave out student numbers, SINs, banking details, medical records, private legal advice and other people’s identifying information.

YOUR WORDS, YOUR DECISION

Approval before publication.

When submissions open, you would approve the final words, the name shown and where your account appears.

How contributor control would work

We would ask separately before reusing an account on social media, sending updates, discussing the case or introducing someone to a reporter. A different public name can help protect privacy; the details of an account may still identify someone.

We would provide a correction and withdrawal route for pages we control. Copies made elsewhere may remain. The initial collection is planned for adults.

Optional: write and download your own story draft

This is a private, download-only draft. It stays in this tab’s memory while you move between site pages. Download a copy before reloading or closing the tab.

FOR GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Keep your identity.
Help others find your work.

We would start small: an agreed group profile, links to its work and accounts approved by their authors. Student associations, educator groups and other organizations could take part.

To introduce your group, email hello@wiltononrecord.ca with a link to its public work. You can also download and adapt an invitation to send yourself.

START WITH PUBLIC WORK

A link is enough.

Share a public campaign page and explain who organizes it and what they are asking for. Keep private member lists, survey answers and case records out of an introduction.
